  • UAE stake pool – environmentally friendly mining pool

Cardano is a proof-of-stake blockchain platform: the first to be founded on peer-reviewed research and developed through evidence-based methods. It combines pioneering technologies to provide unparalleled security and sustainability to decentralized applications, systems, and societies. WHAT IS A STAKE? Ada held on the Cardano network represents a stake in the network, with the size of the stake proportional to the amount of ada held. The ability to delegate or pledge a stake is fundamental to how Cardano works. There are two ways an ada holder can earn rewards: by delegating their stake to a stake pool run by someone else, or running their own stake pool. The amount of stake delegated to a given stake pool is the primary way the Ouroboros protocol chooses who should add the next block to the blockchain, and receive a monetary reward for doing so. The more stake is delegated to a stake pool (up to a certain point), the more likely it is to make the next block – and the rewards are shared between everyone who delegated their stake to that stake pool. WHAT IS STAKE DELEGATION? Delegation is the process by which ada holders delegate the stake associated with their ada to a stake pool. It allows ada holders that do not have the skills or desire to run a node to participate in the network and be rewarded in proportion to the amount of stake delegated. Delegation is supported by Yoroi – wallet for mobile phone and Daedalus – a full-node wallet. The rewards predicted by this calculator are only an estimate. Delegate your ADA stake to my Mining Pool (UAE) and get rewarded, this is environmentally friendly to running miners (ASICs). • Immersion cooling ready ASICs (SHA-256) are available?

All available miners on the market are made for air cooling; therefore, hashing boards are equipped with huge amount of heatsinks, i.e. Antminers S9 has heatsinks on both sides of each on three hashing boards. As Immersion cooling fluid is very expensive thus there’s the challenging to maximize the number of hashing chips covered by the fluid level. Antminer S9 hashing board with heatsinks Heatsinks removal process Heatsinks are not required for the immersion cooling process, but takes valuable free space in the tank. Heatsinks removal is a very tricky process. No one will guarantee that miner will work after. My experience shows that 2 or 10 miners survived. I also faced the problem that no one was able to fix damaged hashing boards. I tried to source ASICs without heatsinks, but was able to find only two real options: 1) obsolete miner Avalon A1047L from Canaan and 2) Hornbill H8 Pro from StrongU Avalon A1047L Immersion miner I will continue to search for immersion miners.

  • The CoolTank 2.0

Project background I started the project in January 2018 on the Bitcoin mining hype by purchasing a few ASICs from Bitmain. ASICs initially were located in the apartment but shortly were moved to the heat-insulated container with AC connected to industrial electricity in Jebel Ali (MFC). In April 2018, an overheating problem was raised and fixed by airflow management, but in May 2018, serious investments are required into the air cooling system. I had to stop mining until October 2018 or find a solution. Air cooled mining farm The cooling solution should match the following criteria: inexpensive, reliable, low power consumption, low running costs, not flammable, self-regulated and remotely manageable. I rejected a single-phase immersion cooling solution based on mineral oil because it doesn’t match all mentioned criteria, i.e. it’s flammable, requires tap water, a facility should be supervised during hot days (as oil can be physically heated up to 230C). 2-phase immersion cooling solution matched all criteria and looked more reliable due to the passive cooling process (liquid-> heating -> evaporation-> natural vapor cooling-> liquid). This liquid (NOVEC 1230) normally used in fire suppression systems as a fire fighting agent. Triple heat exchange process 3D model Googling discovered that 3M as a dielectric fluid supplier and Allied Control as a technology provider together developed a product I was looking for – DataTank. DataTank However, this product wasn’t available for sale because Bitfury Group acquired Allied Control for $200M in 2015 and focused a new subsidiary on in-house projects. Technically the process looked more or less clear, and I started to build my CoolTank in July 2018. I placed service/purchasing orders in Russia, China, Germany and the United States. Everything was delivered to Dubai in January 2019. 45 hashing boards without heatsinks from Bitmain’s Antminer S9 The prototype on the CoolTank was put into operation in March 2019 and still running. Prototype in operation Since that moment I had no maintenance, no failures, no problems. General parameters of the CoolTank: ASIC S9 Bitmain 13.5Th Hashing boards 45 pcs. Overclock +40% Mining power294 Th Electricity 30 kW Cooling 3 kW (pump, fan, AC) Controls / safety / monitoring temperature via Blynk IOT, WebCam, emergency shutdown by signal from liquid level sensor. Axial fan on dry coolier Temperature sensor controls fan speed via Frequency converter. Project vision. The next step is to implement the experience of designing, building, testing and using it into a formal “lessons learnt” document. The CoolTank 2.0 will be available for small scale mining (garage use). Minimum requirements: >Manufacturing cost reduction> Plug&play >Tank on wheels >Heat insulation >Flexible dimensions >Cable management >Upgradable >Hot water utilization Having done CoolTank 2.0, we’ll provide a range of models for different clients: mining at small and large scale, HPC custom solutions for data centres. Cryptocurrency mining is just one possible use case on the CoolTank and its 2-phase immersion cooling technology. Artificial intelligence development and implementation will provide a considerable demand for cost-effective HPC cooling solutions like the CoolTank. #CoolTank #3MNovecEngineeredfluid #Bitcoin #immersioncooling #cryptocurrency

  • Video of boiling process

You can see boiling liquid evaporates, cools down and rain back. The boiling point is 61C. Chips temperature 65C.

  • Why I made the CoolTank?

In crypto mining profitability of operations heavily depends on difficulty of mining. Difficulty rises and share for each mining machine drops. Share drop affected by new mining farms joining mining and new more effective equipment availability for purchase. Mining operators have to continuously invest in new equipment, approx. every 2 years. So there’re plenty of obsolete miners available for sale on Alibaba.com. You can by Antminer S9 13.5T for 150$. When it was issued to market 2 years ago people paid 2000$+, but it was bitcoin bubble. Anyway now Antminer S15 28T costs 1035$ and it is “sold out”. What if we could use S9 like S15 without purchasing it? Is it possible? Yes! What is required: 1) CoolTank 2) 15 miners (prepared for immersion cooling) 3) custom firmware 4) The test with standard PSU 1400W shows 15T, however test with PSU 2100W will bring hashing power to 20-24T. Other benefits: By 90% will drop cost for cooling you miners No noise No dust, no shutdown for cleaning 3x more miners in the same room Savings on investment in miners You can come and see the CoolTank working in Jebel Ali FZ. You can buy the Cool Tank for yourself.

  • Cold trap fixed

Finally I fixed cold trap by changing thermal elements I can proceed the start up process. To be continued…

  • Cold trap turned to oven

Hello everyone! We haven’t posted anything for a long time, because of a problem that forced us to invent solutions. Everything was good. We installed everything in the Cool Tank and run last tests before adding liquid freon. We noticed that cold trap temperature raised too high up to 50+C. Why this could happen? Previously we noticed that pump was working a little bit noisy. The reason for noise was air in pipes. While we were fighting with air bubbles removal from water flow, cold trap cooling wasn’t effective enough and we got over heat. Thermal elements inside cold trap melted. So we lost it. It was unique item made per our specifications with serial number 000001. So now we fixed circulation problem by removing all obstacles from cold trap piping Also added water meter to be sure, that we have circulation and to measure pump flow rate. New piping around cold trap And finally we tested the last survived thermal element. If we have efficient circulation able to remove heat, we should have temperature below zero on the other side of thermal element. Let’s see: Everything is ok now. That’s what we need from cold trap. So, now we have to wait for replacement of thermal elements, assemble cold trap and proceed with start up on the next week. To be continuing…
